The Review

Well lets get the annoying stuff out the way, right? The filming is very raw and rough. Although this does mention it in the Blurb. Also the editing is sketchy (in Rodd Marks part every trick is slowed down!)  but that's about it. Watch it once and you'll get over the sketchy filming and editing. Watch it the it second time and your prepared. Now the skating comes through, and it's brilliant. After all that's what were here for. Although it would make it slightly easier to watch if the filming/editing was better. Anyway enough is enough, lets get down to the skating!

The disc opens with the following screen. You've got screen selection and  the option to play movie.

So you click play movie and be prepared for some raw footage with some amazing skating.

The opener begins and has some nice skating and some pretty painful bails. The street skating isn't particularly badly filmed and there is a great run by Francis Lavallee. There's some heavy metal music playing in the background, exactly what it says on the box. There's a beautiful 360 melon over a fun box and some nice bowl skating. You also see a clip of Nate Sherwood doing a 360 pressure flip, 50-50 (grind), big spin out!

I'm going to concentrate on the freestyle from now on, so a quick say on what happens. There's some great street a lot of flip in, flip out grinds and one of my personal favourites, Pop Shuv-it Melon grab. Kyle Nicholson (don't know his age) and they force him to jump of stuff. Brandon Fonville, he does a run at the beginning of his part on the most bumpy, rough surface ever to be skated. Joe Marrara does some nice vert and park skating. Oh and trust me you'll love Nate Sherwoods part. Crazy Pressure flips!

Weeeeeeter!

Witter's part is probably one of the best freestyle parts on the video. Witter obviously went out with camera put it on the floor and skated in front of it. His part has the most variety and not many tricks are repeated. Most of the other peoples parts become slightly repetitive. Slightly. There's some cool, original tricks. I especially like his rail flip off a rolling board and his primo slide shuv-it primo slides. His fan flips also impressed me, they seem to spin slower than everybody else's. This guy can primo slide for ever. He also has some very nice rail combos. You will enjoy this part, I know it. Witter is now pro for capital (good for you Witter!). Oh and here is his website, Witter's Freestyle Crypt.

Terry Synnott

Terry's part is very good, he has some amazingly impressive stuff. I think its called, Yo Yo to Ho Ho. He does a Yo Yo plant then goes into a handstand with his board on his feet. His video part is mostly long lines of footwork mixed in with tricks. Another cool trick he does (don't no the name) is a rail gymnast plant, rail spiny hand thing back to rail. There's a clip of what Terry is capable of here, Terry's Clip (from Bobs Trick Tips).

JJ O'Donnell

JJ O'Donnell is very good like the others. He skating to the same song as Terry and just comes on straight after him. He starts skating In front of his tripod and does some nice tricks, truckstands and 360's. His part is good with some 540 shuv's to rail. Unfortunately you really notice the filming and editing here. Anyway he has some nice original tricks, good part to watch. Here's a video clip of JJ in action. JJ skating (from the GFSA).

Francis Lavalle

I was amazed at how fast Francis Lavalle Skates. I had never seen him skate, and I was very impressed. He is now pro, and I can see why. Good for you Lavalle! He has some very nice tricks like; Footwork to Nose Hooks, Butterflips, Fan flips and Carousels. He has a nice part but it gets kind of repetitive near the end. He seems to do the same run over and over but in a different order. Although his skating is brilliant! I was very impressed with his part. Here's a clip of Francis Lavalle, Francis Skating at Performance Board Shop.

AJ Kohn

AJ Kohn part isn't the best part on the video, but is still good. He has some nice footwork, and runs. I like his Ts rail back to Ts Rail Combo, Sweet Nector! I also like his one footed 360 shuv-its and I think that he does a huge varial kickback! I must admit that his part is fun to watch. It was very hard to find a picture of him in the full, so the picture to the left is the best I could get. Most of the filming is done below the waist. Here is a clip of AJ skating, AJ Skating Video Clip (from GFSA).

The Verdict

Filming = 5, The Street filming is ok, but the freestyle... Nicht so gut.

Editing = 5, Once again good in places, but now and again doesn't seem to make sense. When Nate Sherwood Ollie's some boxes, oh seems to last for ever. Good Ollie though.

Skating = 9, Very good, street is good, and the freestyle is brilliant.

Music = 7, Good if your into that thought of thing. "THERE TRYING TO BUILD A PRISON!!!!"

Overall = 7, Excellent I recommend it. If your not bothered about the filming or editing to much add two more points. Thankfully, after a while you'll get over the editing and filming. You'll then enjoy it more. I do enjoy it more now than I did originally. Hopefully in CP2 there will be excellent skating and good filming.

Can't Wait Until Capital Punishment 2.
